Powerpaola passed this

Powerpaola and Joni b Quindio roamed for days. They were, to be exact, on a farm lost in the jungles coffee, located at something like an hour and a half of Armenia. What were they doing there? For they were doing what they do in Residencia en la tierra , an artist residency in the region that came over to us for a workshop on creating cartoons.

Thus, using the close appearance of them, we had planted an invitation, visit the Comic Book Club. And all was given to the now-defunct Saturday 16 January. Accepted the proposal of a short comic book shop in the morning and, with Paola, a talk in the afternoon. Here are some memories:

Up there, a picture of the workshop coordinated b. Joni It was in the morning, started around 11 and advanced to the midday sun, the best was resting under the trees in the garden of the Museo del Oro Quimbaya. There were hints, shared lines, is criticized and discussed. Then in the evening was chatting with Paola. A bit of gossip about his work, his round the world, its relationship to drawing, his landing in the comics and everything that has come to be the series tropical Virus, which is published every Friday in Cartoons Royal and whose first part was released editorial, on paper, a few months ago.

improvise an auditorium in the squares of the Museum, right there on the stairs perhaps intended only as ladders by Rogelio Salmona, architect, people sat down. Also we put together a mini-fair for Powerpaola show their publications, so that some are craving for the latest Truchafrita , newly arrived in Armenia, and to know a few more numbers Larva. The talk, which lasted one time, moved through the surprise and laughter. Many were unaware of Powerpaola bullets, but it was a comic reference to which you can not deny one thing: discipline.

End of event. After that, no more missing, walked the streets of northern Armenia and came to the lamp, coffee has become an excuse for continuing to share with guests. Stretches things beyond 2010, things we'll talk about here. Then came the farewell. But we'll meet again, everyone.

Attendees at Powerpaola and Joni b, thank you very much. Also to the sponsors: the Museo del Oro Quimbaya, invaluable companion Travel and Residence on Earth and The Candle, ed accomplices. Are, as always, bullets.

Steel Trailer Fenders

Itineraries: The stories of Powerpaola

started 2010 with a new activity of the Comic Book Club. On this occasion we will have the opportunity to talk face to face with Paola Gaviria or, as is well known, Powerpaola . There will be two hours to get lost in comiqueras talk with her Colombian creative for just over three years was released as a comic. Paola, without much experience but with discipline, has been inventing a world drawn with a style so distinctive and unique which is one of those that get fans or detractors in equal measure.

Among many things, the work of Paola calls attention to two areas: Real Comics , the blog said the Argentine, and Chicks on comics , another interesting blog that gets to talk to women cartoonists from different continents . Where there is usually published Paola. The first is worth to mention the tropical Virus series, an autobiographical comic is updated every Friday and leaving the front pages of a graphic novel the same title, recently published by Silhouette Editors:

This book is also one of the reasons for the encounter with Paola therefore talk about the creation of this series, this first publication, and explore a bit about what you think about the graphic novel as a creative label and the picture of the comic in Colombia. That is the agenda.

and attention to the following: Also scheduled a comic creation workshop for members of the Club and aha, of course, to readers of this blog. Will be from 10 to 12.30 of tomorrow, also at the Museum, and coordinated by Powerpaola and a special guest who mysteriously lands round Quindio: Joni B . We could not pass up the opportunity to have them both so close and not invite a binge comiquera.

Well, you know then we waited in Museo del Oro Quimbaya (Av Bolivar 40N-80. Armenia, Colombia) at about 2.30 pm on tomorrow, Saturday 16 January to chat with Paola, and who dare from the morning as we shall see in the workshop.

Testicle Skin Black And Peeling

In Charging

87 days have passed since the last update of the blog, a figure that does not feed the pride and more dolls clothes us with shame. With the troubled spirits come to put a few points here to try to be honest and admit that we abandon the blog for a bit of laziness mixed with the cocktail of our final day of the year. But make no mistake, it is that we have not done anything in recent months. Things have happened many, and are some of the most interesting pods that can be counted in the entire history of the magazine, which in early November became the first three years.

Let's start with one of the most enriching spaces we have built, the Comic Book Club . This project, originally a kind of excuse to get together with friends and acquaintances to talk about comics and other tasty things, has gone to such a good pace and we have allowed ourselves to Armenia
organize (and the country?) unreleased tracks and cultural activities, lectures, symposia, screenings and exhibitions. Over the past year the Club is scheduled for 12 sessions, from early August to late November, every Saturday for three hours, from 2 until 5 pm. On average, each session attended by about 15 people who proposed them, sometimes brazenly, sometimes with some solmenidad, readings of short stories and graphic novels. That was the base. But at times we encouraged them to movies, interviews and even special guests. Thus, one of the memorable moments was one in which we visited Joni B and Ernán Cirianni, cartoonists.

(If they click on the photo album will reach a chubby. This photo is courtesy of Gil Mariana ) .

With them we had two days to share about your creative journey. On the one hand, Joni, Colombian writer with enough cynicism to say they do and enjoy the story in a country like ours and, on the other hand, Ernan, Argentine cartoonist building work has covered Latin America, from the creation and edition, with an original style. The central event of his visit was a two hour lecture in which he commented on his travels to a nearby auditorium for 50 people, an unusual number for a comic event in Colombia, especially since those 50 people participated willingly and insightful comments, as eventually gave themselves Ernán publications brought from Argentina to offer an impromptu mini-fair. The quantity and, especially, the quality of public reports a dissemination and training project as the Club, a critical step to create a culture of comics in Colombia. Go thing.

The Club will continue with a second season this coming year
. And plan various activities, we will have new visitors, and even walls and glasses filled with exhibitions. That, say, because news will also come the magazine that published a few days the number 9 and is now preparing for the happy pack # 10. So we started 2010 with other air (is?), Preparing for all the good things to come. To you, for your patience, thank you very much.
